City Girl Gone Mom

citygirlgonemom.com

City Girl Gone Mom is a parenthood and lifestyle publication ran by Danielle Lucia Schaffer, a city girl turned San Diego mom. She partnered with DevWerkz to give her website a more cohesive design that reflected her new brand.

What We Did:

  • Rebrand
  • Wordpress Design & Development
  • Press Kit

The goal was to make the website sophisticated but relatable at the same time, and make it easier for readers to access her blog, online shop, podcast, and a host of other endeavors.

The first step was to redo her logo. Although the new logo isn’t a complete departure to the old one, there were too many details that didn’t add up. So we took these out and changed up the typography and colors with those that are more in line with the brand. The result was a clean, simple, and modern logo but with the elegance still pronounced.

The client wanted her blog to be the star of the show.

The client wanted her blog to be the star of the show. make sure her readers can easily find and consume her content, we expanded her navigation menu to include the main topics Danielle blogged about. On top of that, we brought her blog to the fore by including previews of recent posts on the homepage. As users scroll down, they will find Danielle’s online shop, social media, her “Mom Confidential” podcast, and the occasional contests she runs. This way, users have a full view of everything the site has to offer.

We further enhanced her site with beautiful, evocative images, graphics, and animations while keeping the layout and other web elements simple and navigable.

This created a perfect balance between functionality and creativity, which the old site fell short of.

While Danielle’s old website was a charmer (just like her), it needed a modern upgrade that was more in line with today’s digital audience and user demands. With the new site, users can get a glimpse of who Danielle is and what her publication is about from the get-go. Her readers can easily read or listen to her content without any traction. And more importantly, her site is now a stand-out amid a sea of mediocre blogs.
